About the Evergreen Philharmonic
Evergreen Philharmonic Orchestra
Members of Evergreen Philharmonic are high school students who reside within the 100 square mile area defined by the Issaquah School District. The orchestra is a professional training orchestra that prepares its members to be independent, functional musicians, some of whom go on to enjoy playing as amateurs in local community orchestras, and some who go to major conservatories and professional careers. The size of the orchestra varies from year to year, but stays between 65 and 75 members. Since EP is a full symphony orchestra, all instrumentalists are encouraged to audition. The day to day structure involves director Longman traveling between the high schools to teach the Evergreen Philharmonic classes during the school day, and then bringing the whole orchestra together after school on Fridays. The orchestra has a busy performance schedule, and has traveled internationally.
